What Happened to November?

Hi Ladies,

The November meeting was so much fun -- ask anyone who spent some time with the Fortune Teller. I had my camera but was so busy talking and eating, I forgot to take photos. Sorry!

I am counting down: as I write this, there's just 29 hours until our Christmas party. Don't forget to bring your gift so you can participate in the Gift Exchange - it's hilarious and a ton o' fun. And don't forget to carpool or bring some cab fare so you can truly get into the Holiday spirit(s)!

See you soon,

Michelle

Celebrating Octoberfest @ Fox & Fiddle!

We had a fabulous turnout on Wednesday at the Fox & Fiddle on Davis Drive! We enjoyed lots of laughter, yummy food and tipsy beverages. I think we may have depleted their nacho supply!

We saw some unforgettable Karaoke performances from some Newcomers -- and from someone who may have been Elvis (not sure).

Our getting-to-know-you game was a huge hit (literally -- Nancy really knows how to throw a ball!), Sophia busted a groove for us once again, and our waitresses did a great job keeping track of who ordered what. Another great evening! Thankfully Laura is still preggo and offered me a ride home. I look forward to returning the favour once her baby has arrived and she's ready to indulge in some bevvies!

See you in November.

September Social: Season Kick-off Party!

Welcome to all the new and returning Newmarket & Area Newcomers! Almost 50 women came out to our September meeting (at my house! 50 people! that's a record!) for wine, munchies, games, chatter and laughter. It was a fabulous night, and a great kick-off to another year of fun. Thanks for coming out ....see you in October-fest!

Casino Night

WOW! What an amazing night we had to raise funds (and fun!) for the Canadian Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.

With a $10 donation at the door, ladies got a bag of gambling chips. Half of the proceeds went to the charity and the other half went to the top three winners of the night. Additional activities included a Newcomer Scavenger Hunt, a pink M&M guessing game, 50/50 draw, signature pink martinis, and plenty of eating. We all wore a PINK item of clothing to support Canadian Cancer Society. A representative shared her story about her battle with breast cancer. She reminded us all about the importance of getting a baseline mammogram before we're 50.

Thank you again to Laura for hosting this fabulous event in her home. A great way to end the season.

March: Everything Tastes Better With Feta

Hello Ladies,

Last Wednesday, the Newmarket Newcomers descended on Mr. Greek's (on Yonge Street) for plenty of eating, talking, eating, drinking, eating, dancing, a little more drinking and DESSERT, of course.

In other words, a fabulous time was had by all! The snapshots above tell the story and I've even included a photo of our friendly (and amused) server, Rob.

We have some fun events to look forward to before we break for the summer, including the monthly coffee and lunch get-togethers. Our main event next month: Manicures & Martinis! (Arrange for a designated driver to maximize your enjoyment.)

Hope to see you soon!

Michelle

February: Goddess Night

Wow, we got some great tips on Wednesday night to help us make the most of our Goddess shape! I loved learning that when someone sees you for the first time, they form an immediate impression based on their initial review of three things:
- your face
- your handbag
- your shoes

I have already used this information to rationalize recent purse/boot purchases. Thank you Jennifer and Fit Your Style! And thanks to Yellow Orange Salon, many of us may be a little more adventurous next time it's time for a trim. Go for it, girls. Life's too short to not take chances.

Next up, things will get a little spicier in March when we go Mexican. See you then!

January: Broads & Bowling: fun times & goofy shoes

Ladies,
Despite my pathetic bowling performance, I had a good time at Stellar Lanes on Monday. There were many of us who hadn't bowled in years, but everyone had fun trying to stay out of the gutter. We ended the night with some munchies and beverages at Cachet (I don't need any practice in that department...I'm an expert eater).

Up next: coffee on Jan 15th and/or lunch on Jan 22nd. And don't forget Goddess Night next month: Feb 11th (no bowling shoes allowed!).
